every, all
Examples

Each country has a different flag.
불의 제국은 날마다 전쟁을 일으켜.
The Fire Nation goes to war every day.
When you'd hear it
마다 is neutral and common in both conversation and writing. It appears often in everyday phrases such as 날마다, as well as in explanations comparing people, places, or things.
What learners get wrong
마다 attaches directly to a noun, unlike 매일, which already means “every day” and cannot take 마다. Compare 날마다 and 매일, not 매일마다 in standard usage.
every, each, once every
Examples
3시간마다 확인하십시오.
Check every 3 hours.
음식을 먹을 때마다 배가 아파요.
My stomach hurts every time I eat.
When you'd hear it
마다 is neutral and common in both conversation and writing. It appears after time expressions in practical instructions, such as 3시간마다, and after nouns or clauses in everyday speech, such as 먹을 때마다.
What learners get wrong
마다 attaches directly to a noun or time expression, as in 시간마다 “every hour.” For “every time [a clause],” use the pattern -(으)ㄹ 때마다, as in 먹을 때마다.
