When you'd hear it
This ending is archaic and highly deferential, appearing mainly in historical dramas, royal or military speech, ritual language, and stylized literary writing. It is not used in ordinary modern conversation.
What learners get wrong
Learners may mistake it for a modern polite ending like -습니다. Unlike -습니다, -나이다 gives speech an old-fashioned, ceremonially deferential tone and is usually encountered in set historical or ritual expressions.
