When you'd hear it

You’ll hear -냐 in dramas, arguments, teasing, and speech from older or very blunt speakers. It can also appear in written dialogue and inner monologue, but it is risky in ordinary conversation with unfamiliar people.

What learners get wrong

Learners often treat -냐 as a neutral casual equivalent of -요, but it can sound blunt or confrontational. In intimate speech, -니 is often a less abrasive alternative.
