will, be going to - a plan or intention

When you'd hear it

-(으)ㄹ 것입니다 is formal and common in writing, announcements, presentations, and polite workplace speech. In everyday conversation, -(으)ㄹ 거예요 is much more natural, while -(으)ㄹ 거야 is casual.

What learners get wrong

-ㄹ 거예요 after a vowel or a ㄹ stem, -을 거예요 after any other consonant. The irregulars behave as usual: 듣다 → 들을 거예요, 돕다 → 도울 거예요. This is the speaker's own plan; the same shape also carries a guess about someone else, which is a separate pattern taught later.

it'll probably be - a guess from what you know

Examples

Minsu is probably at home now.

That film will probably be good.

When you'd hear it

The full form -(으)ㄹ 것이다 is common in writing, reports, news, and formal speech when making a prediction or supposition. In everyday conversation, it often appears as -(으)ㄹ 거예요 or -(으)ㄹ 거야.

What learners get wrong

The future ending used as a guess about someone else: 지금쯤 도착했을 거예요. Unlike -겠어요 it rests on what you know rather than what you are looking at, so it carries more confidence than -(으)ㄴ/는/(으)ㄹ 것 같다 does.

You looked up -(으)ㄹ 거예요 — Ipsae makes sure you still know it in three weeks.
