Grammar · 1 sense

there is nothing else, it is the only one.

Examples

하루 종일 먹은 게 김밥 한 줄뿐이라서 너무 배가 고파요.

I'm so hungry because I only ate a piece of kimbap all day.

내가 가진 것은 천 원뿐이에요.

I only have a thousand won.

When you'd hear it

뿐 commonly appears in everyday speech and writing after a noun, often with 이에요/예요 or 이다. It is frequent when emphasizing a limited amount, possession, or choice, as in explanations and casual conversation.

What learners get wrong

Unlike 밖에, 뿐 does not require a negative verb: 천 원뿐이에요 is grammatical, while 천 원밖에 없어요 uses 없어요. Both can mean “only,” but their grammar is different.
