When you'd hear it
-다시피 is common in explanations, presentations, news, and polite speech, especially with verbs such as 보다 and 듣다. It can sound somewhat formal in casual conversation, where speakers may use simpler wording instead.
What learners get wrong
-다시피 points to something the listener can observe or is expected to know, while -듯이 more broadly means “in the manner of” or “as if.” Compare 보다시피 “as you can see” with 새처럼 날듯이 “as if flying like a bird.”
